At first sight “Elvis” looks like a colorful, glossy and music-driven film. It follows the story of the young boy who became a rock-star and changed the music industry in USA. The film follows the same concept as Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) and Rocketman (2022). It follows the life of Elvis Presley, as well as important events that happened during his life time. The assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King are two of them. So what we see is not only how the protagonist change, but also how the world he ives in changes. This of course influences him.

Austin Butler puts up a decent performance by some, mesmerizing by others. Will it be enough to land him an Oscar however? He appears to have Elvis’ voice and looks exactly like him. Since the film premiered in Cannes film festival, it has received mixed reviews. From 12 minutes standing ovation to criticism regarding the acting, casting and questioning the accuracy of information.

Achieving an 83 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, we can say that it came to people’s attention. And what a noise it produced. The film is everything you’d expect from aBaz Lurhmann film on Elvis Presley’s story. It’s glamorous, entertaining and it has that heart breaking moment, which all his movies have.

The other part of the production that got people talking is the selection of soundtrack. As you would expect from a film about Elvis, the music is the least impressive! Featuring original songs from Chris Isaak, Steve Nicks and Eminem, it will be a reason enough to watch it.

ELVIS will be one of the protagonists in this year’s Oscar awards. It is expected to win a lot of them golden statues and break some records. All we can do is wait and see.
