As the death of Matthew Perry was announced on October 28, 2023 the news shocked fans around the world. His death from apparent drawning was not easy to accept. Maybe because the famous actor was only 54, or maybe because he was a favourite character, especially for “Friends” fans. It is time we pay our tribute and respect to a very faourite person and actor. And what is the best way to do it? Here are Matthew Perry’s Best “Friends” Moments.

1. The one where Chandler helps pivot a couch (Season 5 – Episode 16)

In this one, Ross buys a new couch and after he decides to skip the delivery charges, with Rachel’s help he decides to carry the couch up the narrow staircase himself. The task however, proves to be problematic and the two of them don’t quite make it. Rachel asks for help from Joey and Chandler and now they work together. As they try to carry the heavy furniture upstairs, Ross continually screams “Pivot, Pivot, Pivot” with Chandler, obviously upset suggesting him to “Shut Up, Shut Up, Shut Up”.

2. The one where Chandler tells Monica he loves her while she has a turkey on her head (Season 5 – Episode 8)

In this one, Monica tries to cheer up Chandler, by putting a Turkey on her head, after she tells the truth about how he lost his toe. The turkey also has glasses and a hat to make it more ridiculous. Chandler’s grouchy mood is quickly dispelled with a laugh and an offhand, “This is so great, I love you.” Monica slow turns in response as Chandler panics. In addition, this is a scene where we see Matthew Perry’s incredible acting skills.

3. The One Where He’s Stuck in an ATM Vestibule With Jill Goodacre (Season 1 – Episode 7)

While the other friends are home during a city blackout — singing the Carpenters’ “Top of the World” and meeting hot Italian neighbors — Chandler is stuck in an ATM vestibule with model Jill Goodacre. He tries his best to convey his situation to Joey over the phone. “I’m stuck in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre!”. Also, he shows no mercy, telling her that “Gum would be perfection” before nearly choking to death.

4. The One When Chandler Starts Smoking Again (Season 1 – Episode 3)

In this one, Chandler’s love for smoking resurfaces. He also helps Joey rehearse for a scene from his new movie and teaches him how to smoke.

5. The One Where Chandler proposes to Monica (Season 6 – Episode 25)

Just to remind you that before this epic moment, Chandler had said to Monica that he never wants to get married. After he arrives home, he finds the apartment full of candles and Monica waiting for him. She drops to one knee to propose, but she’s overcome. He kneels too, trying to take over but is equally verklempt. “You make me happier than I ever thought I could be,” he manages to say. “And if you let me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way.” It’s one of the most swoonworthy proposals in pop culture history. That’s in large part because of Perry’s vulnerability. The amazing acting in this scene produces one of Matthew Perry’s Best “Friends” Moments, among the many others.
