The Oscars 2023 had a movie that dominated. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was the big winner this year as it got seven statuettes proving the critics right.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” was not nominated for best actor however. In this category the winner was Brandan Fraser, who won it for his amazing performance on “The Whale” (check our review for the movie here). An interesting fact is that first time since 1935 the category features five actors.

2023’s ceremony also marked the first time that four Asian actors competed across multiple acting categories. Ana De Armas was the first Cuban actress to be nominated for best actress, for her role as Marilyn Monroe in Netflix movie “Blonde.”

Angela Bassett earned another first for the ceremony, becoming the first actor to receive a nomination for a role in a Marvel film. She was nominated for best supporting actress for her portrayal of Queen Ramonda in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The movie won for costume design.

Another big surprise was that although it won nominations, “Elvis” (our review for this movie here) didn’t win any Oscar, as it was expected.
