On January 19, 2025 TesseracT appeared for the very first time in Sofia, Bulgaria. As part of the “War of Being World Tour, Part 2”, TesseracT presented songs from their latest album with the same title, along with some classic songs from their previous albums. TesseracT had two other promising groups as special guests, the Novelists and the Omnific. Let’s see how the night went.

The Omnific is an Australian progressive metal band from Melbourne that formed in 2016, and is known for their unique lineup of two bassists and one drummer. Before going to the concert, I haven’t heard a lot of their music, as I wanted to see what emotions they will bring on stage and to the audience. If you are ok with backing tracks, then you will have a good time when you will see The Omnific on a live concert. As they were the first group of the night, they played approximately 30 minutes. It will be a challenge for them on concerts when they will have to play for more time, since they do not have a singer.

The Novelists are a French progressive metalcore band from Paris who formed in 2013. They have already released 4 studio albums. Matteo Gelsomino and Tobias Rische were the previous singers of the band, but since 2023, Camille Contreras is the singer of Novelists. They have released several singles since Contreras’ arrival and we await for their fifth studio album.
The Novelists started their concert at 19:50 and for around 45 minutes they achieved to make the audience dance and sing with them. Firstly, their energy was tremendous. Secondly, it was the right band before seeing TesseracT. Novelists have a similar music style with TesseracT, as both bands “belong” to the djent genre, with clean and screamed vocals. “Mourning the Dawn”, “All for Nothing” and “Terrorist” were the songs that made us dance the most.
The Novelists setlist:
- Coda
- K.O.
- Colas
- Mourning the Dawn
- All for Nothing
- Turn it Up (Keyboard Warriors Social Club)
- Prisoner
- Terrorist
- Lost Cause

We have already discussed about TesseracT and the fact that they gain popularity over the recent years. Their latest album “War of Being” has been a critical success and brought TesseracT to more ears. As expected, TesseracT delivered an excellent performance.
To begin with, Daniel Thompkins was exceptional, managing to keep the balance between the screamed and the clean vocals. Moreover, Jay Postones gave a drum mastery, while Acle Kahney and James Monteith performed uniquely their guitars. Finally, Amos Williams on bass guitar added greatly to the heavy sound of TesseracT.
TesseracT focused mainly on their latest album, with half of the songs from their setlist being from “War of Being”. We also listened to 3 songs from “Sonder”, two from “One” (technically from their EP Concealing Fate) and one from “Altered State”. Unfortunately, they did not perform any song from “Polaris”, but we can’t have everything in this life.
For approximately 80 minutes, TesseracT gave their soul on stage and we can’t wait to see them any time soon, ideally in an open-air festival. Although I loved the way they performed all their songs, if I had to choose the highlights of their concert, that would definitely be the “Legion” and “War of Being”. In conclusion, it is crucial to mention that the audience was ecstatic on these songs, but overall, they had a great experience.
The TesseracT setlist:
